The Black Rose The Non-Fiction, Fiction
Reviewed by Valerie Rouse for Readers' Favorite The Chase by The Black Rose is an intriguing novel based on FBI agent Ives Andrich. Ives is happily married to Allina, a renowned writer. Unfortunately, not everyone wants to see Ives happy as Allina’s life has been threatened by one of the men on the FBI’s most wanted list - Jeff Shepherd. This man is bent on harming Allina, and Ives tries earnestly to track him down with assistance from his team. Shepherd is way too unpredictable, especially where his bomb attacks are concerned. The team virtually races against time to ascertain Shepherd’s next move. In an unguarded moment, Shepherd captures Allina and takes her hostage. Allina tried to appeal to Shepherd’s humane side with a view to escaping from him. Ives was able to find her location, however, at the last minute it appeared as though Allina jumped to her death...The Chase is literally a chase to the finish. The Black Rose did an excellent job in engaging the reader in this intense plot. Despite the length of the novel, you feel as though you are watching a movie whilst reading. I was totally engrossed in the storyline, wondering what would happen next. The theme of good vs evil is evident throughout the story. I love the fact that the author chose to display the Christian faith via the interchange of the main characters. This is a brave tactic and blends in perfectly with the overall theme. I enjoyed reading about the enduring love between the main characters. Even though they are married, it is touching to see the devotion they have for each other. This encourages us to keep our relationships fresh by showing constant appreciation for our loved ones. The language used is semi- formal and is quite easy to understand. I definitely recommend The Chase to all readers who love suspense novels. Tracy Slowiak In a real thrill ride of a read by The Black Rose, The Chase: Part Two of The Killing Game Series is a book that readers won't be able to put down once they start reading it. Follow the story of Ives, the Director of the New York division of the FBI, as he investigates the mistreatment of his beloved wife, Alina, during a recent case - the Luca case. Ives is ready to do just about anything to figure out exactly what happened, but is surprised to find that she has a past he knew nothing about. With links to a wanted bomber who continues to threaten her, and a likely conspiracy that leads them down a very dark and twisting path, readers will be uncertain as to how this story will turn out. I very much enjoyed The Chase: Part Two of The Killing Game Series. The Black Rose has done a great job in creating interesting characters that her readers will be able to relate to and care about, and will be truly intrigued by. If that isn't a hallmark of a great author, I'm not sure what is. This story is very fast paced and is unpredictable, which is an awesome characteristic to find in a book these days. Any reader who enjoys a good thriller, or who is just looking for a gripping read in general should absolutely read this book. I am pleased to recommend The Chase: Part Two of The Killing Game Series, and look forward to reading more from The Black Rose in the future. Chris Fischer In a completely epic read offered by The Black Rose, The Chase: Part Two of The Killing Game Series, readers will be captivated by a story that is both exciting and engrossing all at the same time. Picking up where the first book in The Killing Game Series, The Blood Negotiators, left off, the story follows protagonist Ives Andrich, the Director of the New York Division of the FBI, as he investigates the past of his beloved Alina, and finds that there is much to it that he was not aware of. Her life has been intertwined with that of a malicious bomber who continues to threaten her safety. Ives sets off on a quest to find the bomber, following cryptic clues down a twisted path to locate the perpetrator. But when he does, everything goes wrong, and it looks unlikely that he will save Alina, or even himself. The Chase: Part Two of The Killing Game Series is an intriguing and incredibly readable book of literary romance, and many readers will find it nearly impossible to put down once they've started it. The Black Rose, the author of this book, has done a good job of creating a story line that is filled with romance, adventure and thrills, and will appeal to a large number of readers. Any reader that enjoys romance, action, or just a great read of fiction in general, should pick up this book as soon as they can. I can easily give this book a very high recommendation, and look forward to reading the next in this series as soon as I can! Shonte Brewster from Goodreads 5-Stars Packed full of suspense, intrigue, passion and romance! After reading and thoroughly enjoying book one in The Killing Game series, I was keen to get back into the action. Book two, The Chase did not disappoint. Packed full of suspense, intrigue, passion and romance which might appear a strange combination for a conspiracy based thriller. However, it works very well because the characters continued to develop and grow since my initial meeting and getting to know them in book one. The signs and signature touches of a well-written novel in this novel are demonstrated by firstly, the urge to keep reading even when time and other commitments dictate otherwise. It is not a book to be rushed as the intricate precise details of events, locations and emotions are too good to not to be savored. Secondly, the plot demands your utmost attention and although you may try to predict the twists and turns the author cleverly manages to surprise you. A highly recommended read! Carolyn from Goodreads 5-Stars Having just finished the 4th book in the series "The Last Hope," I can see how I erred in my initial evaluation of our heroine. She truly is not a submissive to her husband's whims character as I originally thought. I was making a mistake while reading this series and comparing the two main characters with other heroes and heroines that I have read about in the past. These two main characters are nothing like anything I have ever read before. They are two people who have deep religious beliefs and live their lives accordingly. This was not evident in the first book of the series. By this second book, it was being revealed. That kind of thing normally puts me off because I'm more spiritual rather than religious, even though I was raised in an Irish Catholic home. I was thrown because I thought I was reading a romantic, mystery thriller. Oh yes, it is that. But it is much more, as are the main characters. So, knowing what I know now about the two main characters, I realize that our heroine isn't a submissive "yes, dear" type at all. She believes it is her job to take care of a very important man, her husband. A man who has such honor, loyalty and goodness, that it is her place to be sure he is happy, loved and cared for so he can do the very important, inspirational work that he does. I felt it was important that I revise my original review because it would be doing a disservice to this author and her amazing work. These series in exceptional. :) Sarah Jane from Amazon 5.0 out of 5 stars Packed full of suspense, intrigue, passion and romance!
